Isbank case study
The client: Türkiye Is Bankasi (Isbank) is Turkey’s first public bank and premiere national financial institution. The company offers some of the largest services in Turkey, and operates 1,011 branches domestically, as well as a few international offices. Over the years, the bank has been responsible for pioneering many banking practices in Turkey, including the use of cheques for daily transactions, initiating electronic banking and the introduction of ATMs.
The challenge: Isbank wanted to create a whole new experience for online banking. At the moment online banking is very flat; in most cases it’s no more than rows and columns of text. So it’s hardly surprising that for most people, banking online is simply a means to an end – not an experience they look forward to.
Isbank wanted to provide a much more graphically immersive experience for their users that would allow them to see details of all their accounts in one place, show them how they were spending their money and generally make banking more fun and interactive.
The solution: Flow Interactive, in partnership with Microsoft, undertook to design a proof of concept for Isbank. It was our job to develop and enhance some of the initially designed concepts using technologies such as Silverlight.
Within three weeks, we had built a fully functioning proof of concept demo for the client to sell internally within the bank. Our solution included all the functionality they wanted for their system, allowing both personal and business users to view accounts, view and send emails to the bank, track bills, forecast cashflow – even ‘deposit’ cheques (by scanning them in). Rather than using pin numbers and passwords, face recognition software is used to confirm the identity of the user.
